Washington Business Journal: Budget Blinds Expands In D.C. Area

Reporter: Tierney Plumb
Budget Blinds, a provider of custom window treatments, blinds, shutters, shades and draperies, is ramping up its expansion in the Washington area. The Orange, Calif.-based home improvement franchise has sold 17 franchise territories in the area and has 38 more available.
New home construction permit requests hit a 50-year low last month, according to the Department of Commerce, pointing to trend of less home building in the foreseeable future. Home improvement companies like Budget Blinds are capitalizing on consumers remaining in their homes longer or moving into lived-in homes.
Brent Hallock, Exec. V.P. Budget Blinds
“What’s interesting about this business is six out of seven window coverings are sold into established neighborhoods.” Brent Hallock, co-founder and executive vice president of Budget Blinds.
